Product Description

GZDY-GR-01 Duyun Maojian

The "golden latitude" of green tea production in the world - tropic of Cancer to 30 degrees north latitude

Duyun, located in the south-east region of Guizhou Province, is the only region in China that has both low latitude, high altitude and little sunshine. There is no severe cold in winter and no hot summer in summer, and the annual average temperature is 16.2°C. The soil here is deep, loose and moist, and contains a lot of organic matter, giving birth to the unique Duyun Maojian tea tree variety. There are many mountains and clouds in Guizhou, like a fairyland, and even the mist carries the fragrance of tea.

Lu Yu ,Tea Saint ,in the Tang Dynasty, recorded in the "Tea Classics" that today in Duyun, Fuquan, Weng'an and Northeast Guizhou, the high mountains and clouds, the buds are bred, and the famous tea produced is of high quality and has become a  royal tea.

During the Ming Dynasty, it was named "Fishhook Tea" because the finished tea was in the shape of a fishhook. In the Qing Dynasty, it began to be exported overseas, and was later renamed "Duyun Maojian" in 1956. In 2017, Duyun Maojian obtained the geographical indication certification of agricultural products.

On November 29, 2022, the 17th regular session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO passed the review. Duyun Maojian tea production skills became the only representative project in Guizhou Province selected as an intangible cultural heritage.

Every year before and after the Qingming Festival, tea farmers pick the green tea with buds and leaves, and fry it by hand. After the baptism of the five intangible cultural heritage hand-made techniques of killing, kneading, shaping, lifting, and drying, it becomes a cup of green color, curly strands, pekoe exposed, fresh and tender aroma, fresh and mellow taste after drinking, and sweet aftertaste tea.
